Home whitening with dentist-prescribed trays and bleaching gels

Technically, “whitening” restores your teeth to their natural color. If you want a shade that’s whiter than your natural teeth, you’re actually after “bleaching.” Dr. Hoppe helps you reach your desired teeth whitening level with custom-fit professional whitening trays. These trays are oral appliances that slip into your mouth and over your teeth. When filled with a powerful whitening gel and worn as directed, clinically proven effective peroxide-based ingredients are transferred from the trays to the teeth. Since the trays are fitted to the unique contours of your teeth and mouth, the whitening or bleaching is even and looks natural. Furthermore, unlike OTC trays available at the store or online, these custom-fit appliances do not cause irritation or damage to your mouth. Before & After Results

• Patient presented with tooth #9 broken in an accident down to the gum line. Upper left maxillary central incisor (tooth #9) was not able to be saved. Pt. was also unhappy with crowns next to the fractured tooth and overall color and appearance of his teeth and smile. Custom bleaching trays were recommended to whiten all of his teeth. Extraction of tooth #9 and replacement with implant crown #9 was recommended along with replacement of older crowns on teeth #’s: 7, 8, and 10.
• Models of his teeth were taken for fabrication of at home bleaching trays for both upper and lower teeth. Patient wore bleaching trays for 30 minutes/day for 3 weeks to whiten his teeth. Pt. was referred to the surgeon for extraction and implant placement of tooth #9. Pt. wore a flipper or temporary maxillary partial denture during healing and integration of implant on #9 (~ 4 months). Next the older crowns were removed and teeth prepared for new crowns. Models were taken for fabrication of all ceramic crowns on teeth #’s: 7, 8, and 10 along with fabrication of custom abutment and all porcelain crown on #9.
• The patient was very happy with the final result. The entire treatment took ~ 8 months with about 6 months of time for healing of the extraction site and implant integration.
